Martha Ann Byrd

Martha Ann Byrd, 80, of Elizabeth, died Monday, September 30, 2019, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.  She was born November 26, 1938, in Battletown, Kentucky, to the late Harold and Mamie Greer Carver.  She was retired from General Electric in Louisville after 32 years, and was a member of the Corydon Baptist Church where she was very active in food ministries.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gurvis Eldon Byrd, Jr.; her brother, Robert Carver; and her sister, Thelma Christley.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Brunner (Ronnie) of Corydon, Debbie Wate (George) of South Carolina, and Paula Goins of Elizabeth; her sister, Mary Gagle of Louisville; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Pastor Keith McWhorter will officiate.  Burial will be in Leavenworth Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Corydon Baptist Church for the Annie Armstrong Mission Fund.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Alcorn, Jeremy Ledford, George Dee Wate, Josh Pitts, Michael Goins and Shane Bennett.
