Larry Gene “Peanuts” Hamilton, 66, of Memphis, Indiana, died Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. He was born December 30, 1951, in Corydon, Indiana, to the late Carl M. and Mary M. Shepard Hamilton. He was a retired manager of Southern Indiana Carpet in New Salisbury, Indiana, was the former owner of Hamilton’s Carpet Store and Hamilton Hall recreation center both in Corydon, he attended Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany where he founded “In Heaven’s Eyes” outreach ministry, and he was very proud to have carried the Olympic torch in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Bob and Russell Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. Carpenter Hamilton; his son, Christopher C. Hamilton (Tina) and their children, Alexis and Cadince of Scottsburg, Indiana; his god daughter, Megan Stump (Josh) and their child, Tidus of Clarksville, Indiana; his brothers, Michael Hamilton (Sandy) and Jim Hamilton (Virginia) both of Corydon; and his sisters, Joyce Metrick (Brian) of Beecher, Illinois, Gynith Timberlake of Corydon, and Margaret Shirlene Stepro of Terre Haute, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Father Jeremy Gries will officiate.
Visitation will be after 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
