Joan Carol Steen, 67, of Laconia, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon.  She was born April 3, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Wilbur Ray and Marjorie Louise Shireman Kaiser.  She was employed at Cedar Farm near Laconia, was formerly employed at Robinson Nugent in New Albany, and attended Union Chapel Christian Church near Laconia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Carla Michelle Steen; her brother, Michael Kaiser; and her sisters, Julia Wilson and Sandra Dorton.

Survivors include her husband, David Michael Steen; her son, David Eric Steen (Dawn); her grandson, Ryan Michael Steen; her brothers, Donald, Darrell, Larry, Jerald Lynn and Douglas Kaiser; and her sisters, Jane Gilpin, June Langsdon, Dottie Miller, Cheryl Schoen, Patty Ashley and Linda Decker.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Richard Goodwin and Rev. Ron Stuart will officiate.  Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery near Laconia.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Memorial Cemetery Fund.

Pallbearers will be Gary Gilley, Jackie Vaught, Roger Faith, Kevin Crosier, Jamie Crosier, and Gary King.
