Jean Frederick Smith, 86, of Louisville, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.  She was born October 1, 1931, in Corydon, Indiana, to the late George S. and Mabel K. Peper Frederick.  She was a graduate of the Corydon High School class of 1949, was retired from Bacons/Dillards Department Stores, was a former employee of the Internal Revenue Service, was a life member of the 15th district PTA, was a Kentucky Colonel, and was a former member of the Corydon Christian Church Disciples of Christ and Southeast Christian Church.  She will be missed by her loving family, friends, nephews and nieces.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin R. Smith, Jr.; her brothers, George R. and Ted A. Frederick; and her poodle, Sophie.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Bonna Smith Bond (Dr. Sheldon) of Anchorage, Kentucky and Jill Frederick Smith of Middletown, Kentucky; her sister, Deanna Frederick of Jeffersonville, Indiana; her grandsons, Dr. Jordan Bond (Dr. Emily) and Logan Bond; and her dog, Elvis.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Rick Harting will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.

 

Pallbearers will be Sheldon, Jordan and Logan Bond, Robert Harrett, Larry Snider and Tommy Troncin.

 

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Rebecca Redman and the staff at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center for their thoughtful care.
