Herschel Edward Frakes, 85, of Corydon, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.  He was born November 7, 1931, in Mauckport, Indiana, to the late James Edward and Luella Ruth Faith Frakes.  He was retired from the Jay-C Food Store in Corydon, was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Post 2950 both in Corydon, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brian Edward Frakes; his daughter, Tonya Frakes; and his sisters, Darlene Love and Teresa Brown.

Survivors include his daughters, Davetta Albers (Kevin) of Corydon and Tina Fulkerson (Willie) of Lanesville; his sister, Vicki Crone (Paul) of Depauw; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Jim Higdon will officiate.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Corydon.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
