Harold Cecil Garmon

Harold Cecil Garmon, 82, of Corydon, died Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born September 8, 1935, in Georgetown, Indiana, to the late Clarence and Icy Gibson Garmon.  He was a farmer, was a retired foreman at Jefferson Piping Company in Louisville, was a founding member and chief of the Heth Township Volunteer Fire department for 36 years, was the caretaker of the Central Cemetery for many years, was a U.S. Army veteran, and he loved basketball and was an avid IU fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June Ann Luther Garmon; his brothers, Carl & Leo Garmon; his sister, Thelma Barks and an infant sister.

Survivors include his son, Kent Harold Garmon of Corydon; his daughter, Jill Ann Byerley (Richard) of Georgetown, Indiana, his brothers Paul Garmon (Connie) of Central, Indiana and Don Garmon (Phyllis) of New Albany, Indiana; and his sisters, Wilma Goldman of Georgetown, Sylvia Gunther (Clifford) of Corydon, Jean Crosslin of Portland, Tennessee, and Lettie Harl of New Albany.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Brother Vince Garmon will officiate.  Burial will be in Central Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children or the Central Cemetery Corporation.

Pallbearers will be Tony, Chase, Cole, and Shawn Garmon, Doug Gibson, and Steve Miller.  Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Coffman, Tom Ferree, Bob Byerley, and Melvin Shewmaker.
