David G. “Fatboy” Wellman, 56, of Corydon, died Saturday, September 9, 2017, at U of L Hospital in Louisville.  He was born April 1, 1961, in Corydon, to the late Knoeful G. “Bud” Wellman and Ruth E. Redden Wellman Carver.  He was a company driver for Jasper Engines, was a former wrecker driver for Charlie’s 24 Hour Towing and Downtown 76 in Corydon, was a former gas truck driver for Bigfoot/Johnson Oil Company, was a former employee of Skylite Auto Sales and Evanite/Daramic in Corydon, was a member of the Corydon Moose Lodge and the Corydon Volunteer Fire Department, and he loved his motorcycle, selling cars, and he always put his family first.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step father, Alfred “Peck” Carver.

 

Survivors include his wife, Carla R. Hammond Wellman; his son, Zachary Wellman (Krista) of Corydon; his daughters, Tiffany Hayes (Ron) and Samantha Wellman both of Corydon; his grandchildren, Brooklyn and Gunnar Hayes, and Bentley and Avery Wellman; his brothers, Brad Wellman (Juliann) of Corydon, Brian Wellman (Jessica) of Crandall, and Kerry Wellman of New Salisbury; and his sisters, Machelle “Shelly” Friese (Terry) of Corydon and Rhonda April of Utica, Indiana.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Ron Marine will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Pallbearers will be Bobby Emily, Ray Saylor, Greg Pate, Danny House, Lucky Summers and Chris Traughber.
