Carl F. Snyder

Carl F. Snyder, 86, of Ramsey, died Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Golden Guardians Elder Care in Corydon.  He was born May 8, 1933, in Central, Indiana, to the late Alva and Aldine Reed Snyder.  He was retired from L&N and CSX Railroads after working for 30 years as a manager of labor relations, was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church in Corydon, was a past president of the Indian Creek Trail, was a past president and life member of the Greater Louisville Bowling Association, was a member of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department reserves, was a enthusiastic volunteer for many local organizations including the Tindall School, the Gerdon Youth Center, the Corydon Jamboree, Repair Affair, Habitat for Humanity, building shelter houses at Hayswood Nature Reserve, and various mission trips, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Christine Mann and Sherley Snyder Watson; and his brother, Cuba Snyder.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elaine J. Shepherd Snyder; his son, Marty Snyder of Corydon; his daughter, Carla Clunie (Dennis) of Corydon; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Douglas Finney will officiate.  Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery near Laconia.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Harrison County Veterans.

Pallbearers will be Brian and David Peters, Christi Peters Reed, Josh Reed, Blake Clunie and Jeff Vaughn.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Gerdon and Chad Clunie.
