Arthur Ray Timberlake, 84, of Mauckport, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his home on top of the hill surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 2, 1933 at home on top of the hill in Mauckport to the late Floyd Edward Timberlake and Mary Alliene Ripperdan Timberlake Schneider.

Arthur and his father, Floyd, started the Pilot Wheel Ranch in 1945, raising registered Polled Hereford cattle.  They exhibited at several county fairs, Indiana and Kentucky State shows and 31 consecutive years at the Indiana State Fair and 29 years at the Kentucky State Fair and throughout the years those cattle were sold in 13 states and Canada. Arthur showed at the Harrison County Fair for the first time in 1951 at the age of 18 and cattle from the Pilot Wheel have been exhibited there every year since. Arthur truly was a lifelong 4-H member and the Fair was one of his favorite weeks of the year. Arthur judged purebred cattle shows around the country, some of the most notable were the Fort Worth Stock Show, the SOP Hereford Show in Portland, Oregon and the 1979 National Junior Polled Hereford Show.

He served for a total of 42 years for the Federal Land Bank and Farm Credit Services of Mid-America. He was a founding member and president of the Corydon Jaycees. He served as a National Polled Hereford Association Director from 1971-1977, including at the very first National Jr. Polled Hereford show in 1974. He was a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association, the Indiana Hereford Association and the Kentucky Hereford Association, and was a founder of the Indiana Pollette and Indiana Jr. Polled Hereford Association.  He was a member of the Mauckport United Methodist Church.

Arthur is a veteran of the United States Army, serving as supply sergeant in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Eschbacher-Timberlake; daughter, Alice Cornelia Hayse (Scott); grandsons, Brian Austin and Luke Elliott Hayse; brothers-in-law, Buck Eschbacher (Irma), Andy Eschbacher (Karen), Donnie Eschbacher (Teresa); nieces and nephews, Natalie Ward (Craig), Preston Eschbacher, Kyle Eschbacher, Brandon Eschbacher, Scott Decker (Kelly), Bridgett West (RJ), John Eschbacher (Abbie) and Savannah Clem (Ethan); nine great nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Brother Steve Arnold will officiate.  Burial will be in Mauckport Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dale Kottkamp, Kyle, Brandon and John Eschbacher, Craig Ward, Ethan Clem, Scott Decker and RJ West.

Honorary pallbearers are Preston Eschbacher, Ralph Sherman, Gary Ripperdan and Billy Curts.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Harrison County 4-H or the Mauckport Cemetery Fund.
