Calvin Joseph "Red" Davis

Calvin Joseph “Red” Davis, 96, of Corydon, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Harrison Springs Health Campus near Corydon.  He was born January 18, 1928, in Ramsey, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Daisy Thevenot Davis. 

Calvin, known to many as “Red”, was retired from Nolot Farm Service.  He served in the U. S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War.  After he retired, he spent many winters in Fort Myers, Florida.  He loved to garden, take care of the lawn and meet with his McDonald’s friends for tea.  He was a lifetime member of V. F. W. Post 2950 in Corydon, a longtime member of Old Capitol Church near Corydon and was active in the Republican Party for as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Cynthia Rosbottom; and his siblings, Jesse, Leanna Batman (Wayne), Jewell Gaither (James), Elwood Fleshman, and Isabella Buehl (Robert).

Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Edith Curts Davis; his son-in-law, Joseph Rosbottom of Corydon; his sister, Violet Fleshman of Corydon; his sister-in-law, Susannah Davis of New Salisbury, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Andy Hansen and Pastor Allen Edwards will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
