Billy Jack Short, 81, of Corydon, died Friday, April 12, 2024, in Corydon. He was born September 12, 1942, near Talcum, Kentucky, to the late Amel and Adeline Dobson Short. He was retired from Rohm & Haas Chemicals in Louisville, was employed with Allied Universal Security at the Corydon Tyson Foods Plant, was a member of the Floyd County Conservation Club and the NRA, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Bill was a mountain man from Eastern Kentucky who loved his family, guns, fishing and all things WIDE OPEN. If there was one thing about him it was he Loved going fast. Billy was known for the love of his family. His pride and joys were his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. If one couldn’t find him at home you knew he was probably out watching his grandkids at the ball park, fishing with his son or eating at restaurants with his daughter. He was so proud of where he came from and loved his roots. His smile lit up the room and he never missed a moment to make people laugh! His daughter the Matriarch of the family and holder of the hearts took such good care of him until the very end and he knew just what love was through her. We know without a doubt his memories will live on through the people he loved most.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Gene Singleton Short; his son, Rick Short; his grandson, Wyatt Davison; and his brother, Glen Amel Short.
Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Cesar (Chad); his sister, Lorraine Mullins (Phillip): his grandchildren, Courtney Smith (Justin), Savanah Davison Cesar (Edwin Windell), Shelby Rhodes (Dylan), and Sophia Cesar; and his great grandchildren, Skyla, Larken, Linken, Ledger, Lux, Lainey, Henry and Wesley.
There will be a memorial visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Beanblossom –Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
