Opal Christine Deich, 93, formerly of New Amsterdam, Indiana, died Saturday, August 20, 2016, at St. Vincent Salem Hospital in Salem, Indiana.  She was born January 27, 1923, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Harvey Byrd and Elsie Oma Froman Breeden.  Opal proudly supported the war effort while she worked at the airplane factory in Princeton, Indiana during WWII; and was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in New Albany, Indiana and the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Desco LaVern Deich; her brothers, Weldon, Clifford and Max Breeden; and her sisters, Vera, Louise and Helen Breeden, Elva Cline and Fern Gehlbach.

Survivors include her sons, James L. Deich (Janet) of Salem and Mark A. Deich (Carla) of Borden, Indiana; her sister, Waneka Mackison of Rockville, Maryland; her grandchildren, Eric Deich (Pam Graham), Dana Carey (Brad), and Rachel and Rebekah Deich; and her great grandchildren, Tiff Schekles (Steven), Allie Carey (Noah Hamilton), Madi Deich and Coleen Carey.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Pastor Dennis Alstott will officiate.  Burial will be in New Amsterdam Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brad Carey, Virgil Gehlbach, Paul Bowerman, Tim Dobson, Larry Breeden, Howard Fisher, Michael Breeden and Zachary Wiseman.
