Marcell H. Schoen, 90, of Elizabeth, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.  He was born September 20, 1925, in Elizabeth, to the late Gustav and Dora Hussung Schoen.  He was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville where he was also a member of the men’s club, was a past commander and member of the Hornickle Post American Legion #379 in Elizabeth, was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2950 in Corydon, he served on the Harrison County Alcohol Beverage Board, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Margery Katherine Walther Schoen; his grandson, Brian Brown, and his brother, Kenneth Schoen. 

 

Survivors include his sons, Rodney Schoen (Judy) of Lanesville, Roger Schoen (Connie) of Elizabeth, Ralph Schoen (Cathy) of Corydon, Randall Schoen (Marsha) of Elizabeth, and Robin Schoen (Shannon) of Elizabeth; his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Miller (Doug) of Elizabeth; his brothers, Wilbur Schoen of New Albany and Darrell Schoen (Donna) of Bellingham, Washington; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Pastor Ronald Richeson will officiate.  Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

 

Pallbearers will be Rodney, Roger, Ralph, Randall and Robin Schoen and Doug Miller.
