Joseph L. Straub, 88, of Corydon, died Friday, September 1, 2017, at Harrison Springs Health Campus near Corydon. He was born May 2, 1929, in Corydon, to the late Desmond and Elizabeth Brown Straub. He was a retired construction worker, was a member of the Laborer’s Union Local #795 in New Albany, the New Middletown United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. Post 2950 in Corydon, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Old Capitol Aerie #2794 in Corydon, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Donna Sue “Susie” Rosbottom; and his brothers, Robert, Raleigh, Maurice, John and Leroy Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ann Shireman Straub; his sons, Ricky Joe Straub (Nancy) of Clarksville, Indiana and Michael E. Straub (Reba) of Corydon; his daughters, Elizabeth Chambers (Steve) and Vicki Bachman (Steve) both of Corydon; his son-in-law, Mike Rosbottom of Corydon; his brother, Rodney Brown (Lorraine) of Sellersburg, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Steve McAfee will officiate. Burial will be in New Middletown United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the New Middletown United Methodist Church or Autism Speaks.
