Jo Ann Mathews, 76, of Corydon, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Indian Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon. She was born August 8, 1941, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Alva E. and Maude A. Rainbolt Lowe. She was a tour guide at the old First State Capitol Building and a travel counselor at the Harrison County Convention and Visitors Bureau both in Corydon, was formerly employed at Keller Manufacturing Company in Corydon and the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, was an avid HAMM radio operator, and loved history.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her infant brother, George Raymond Lowe.
Survivors include her significant other, Henry L. Cosby; her son, Orvy Sprayberry, Jr. (Paula) of Corydon; her grandchildren, Shayna Hamilton (Sandy) and Travis Sprayberry; and her great grandchildren, Sawyer Hamilton and Sloan Hamilton.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2018, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Jim Higdon will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Corydon.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Travis Sprayberry, Clark, Robert and Ethan Whitehouse, Bryan Rawlins and Carl Vaughn.
