Jean Elbert, 90, of Corydon, died Monday, February 6, 2017, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.  She was born October 10, 1926, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Kenneth L. and Lavine Schuppert Hurst.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon where she was active in the Altar Society, the Resurrection Choir and the weekly bible study group.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rosemary Melton; and her great grandson, Tyler Elbert.

 

Survivors include her husband, Lambert P. Elbert; her sons, Randy P. Elbert (Loni) of Edinburgh, Indiana, Jim M. Elbert and Steve E. Elbert (Rhonda) both of Corydon, Richard J. Elbert (Rena) of Columbus, Indiana, and John A. Elbert (Kathy) of Jeffersonville, Indiana; her daughters, Connie M. Lahue (Don) of Leavenworth, Indiana, and Mary Ann Wells (Rusty) and Cathy J. McCarty (Roy Jr.) both of Corydon; her brothers, Robert Hurst (Sarah) and Joe Hurst (Donna) both of Florida; her sister, Isma Simler (Dale) of Salem, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

 

Her funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.  Father Robert Hankee will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

 

There will be a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 1015-C South Preston Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40203.

 

Pallbearers will be Damon Lahue, Todd, Mike, Travis, Jason, and Derek Elbert, Michael McCarty, and Harrison Wells.
