Francis W. “Frank” King, 89, of Alton, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.  He was born September 27, 1926, in Corydon, Indiana, to the late Thomas H. and Dessie Huntsinger King.  Upon graduation from Corydon High School in 1944, Francis served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII.  After the war, he was employed at Colgate Palmolive in Jeffersonville for 38 years, retiring in 1982, when he bought a farm in Alton where he currently lived.  Francis enjoyed hunting squirrels and rabbits, and especially deer in the fall.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kedrick C. King.

 

Survivors include his brother, Robert T. King (Mary) of New Albany; his sister, Alice King Craig of New Albany and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Rick Utz will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

 

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey, Robert Lee and Tony King, Rick Jones, Richard and Steven Craig, and Steve Gorbett.
