Charles Edward Lynch, 92, of Corydon, died Friday, April 14, 2017, at Indian Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon.  He was born December 31, 1924, in Wyandotte, Indiana, to the late Chester and Ora Lang Lynch.  He was a retired mechanic at Park’s Chevrolet for 30 years, was a softball umpire in Harrison and Floyd counties, was the president of the Southern Indiana Umpires Association for 6 years, was a charter member of the Old Capital Coon Hunters Club since 1948, was elected for 8 years to the South Harrison Community School Corporation Board, was a member of the Harrison County Community Foundation Board for 10 years, was a member of the Corydon Town Council for 12 years, was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2950 in Corydon and the American Legion, was involved in little league for several years, was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he served in General George Patton’s 3rd Army at the Battle of the Bulge, and he was a Christian.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Larry E. Lynch; his daughter, Barbara R. Hart; his brother, Perry L. Lynch; and his grandchildren, Amber C. Lynch, Jerica A. Lynch Spencer and Miranda I. Schmidt.

 

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Anna Margaret Patterson Lynch; his son, Donnie A. Lynch, Sr. (Elaine) of Corydon; his daughter, Margaret A. Loehr of Boonville, Indiana; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Sanford Nash will officiate.  Burial will be in Blue River Chapel Cemetery near Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to The Humane Society of the United States or the V.F.W. Post 2950 in Corydon.

 

Pallbearers will be Donnie Lynch, Jr., Sean Arms, Dustin Lynch, Dale Hart, Chet Lynch and Jimmy Sams.
