Billy Joe Hollingsworth, 91, of Corydon, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his home near Corydon. He was born August 12, 1925, in Knox County, Indiana, to the late Isaac Lee and Opal Carrico Hollingsworth. He was a retired food inspector for the USDA in Louisville, was a member of the Alton American Legion Post #133, and was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Anna Earlene Bond Hollingsworth, and his sisters, Virginia Lane, Betty Lou Hollingsworth, Catherine Sue Lemme and Opal Marie Bland.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Penwell Cano Hollingsworth; his sons, Earl Lee “Butch” Hollingsworth (Judy) of Dallas, Texas and Billy B. Hollingsworth (Darcy) of Corydon; his daughters, Becky Jo Hollingsworth and Sara Jane Lynch both of Corydon; his step son, Roy Cano (Roberta) of St. Louis, Missouri; his step daughters, Cecelia McGaha (Steve) of Louisville, Carol Hendry (Quentin) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Judy Meredith of Lancaster, Kentucky; his brother, Lloyd Ellis Hollingsworth (Theora) of Indianapolis, Indiana; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Randy Kirk will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Boys Town.
